Transparency
Transparency & accountability
UDLFI is committed to responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to it, and to governance our members, partners, donors, and communities can actually inspect.
We believe that the people who support this work deserve to see how it is run. This page collects what we publish today and states plainly what we do not yet have — because an empty shelf described honestly is worth more than a full one that is not true.
Financial controls
These are established by the association's by-laws, not by policy that can be quietly changed.
- Two signatures on every disbursement
- Withdrawals from association funds, by cheque or any other instrument, are signed by the Treasurer and countersigned by the President.
- An elected Auditor
- The Auditor examines financial records and transactions for accuracy and compliance, and reports an independent assessment to the Board and the membership.
- An annual report to members
- The President reports on the association's activities and operations to the members at the annual meeting each December.
- No distribution of income
- No part of the association's income may be distributed as dividends to members, trustees, or officers. Any surplus goes back into the stated purposes.

Ask us for something
Members may examine the records and books of United Dog Lovers Family, Inc. during business hours under Article V of the by-laws. Anyone else — a donor, a partner, a journalist — is welcome to ask, and we will tell you either what you want to know or why we cannot say.
